How can we help you?

Find answers to common questions about tutoring, payments, refunds, and joining as a tutor.

Getting started
How does BengalTutors work?+

BengalTutors connects you with verified tutors across Bangladesh in two ways:

  • Home Tutors — Submit a request, our team finds a tutor near you, and they visit your home. Most common for SSC, HSC, and admission prep.
  • Online Lessons — Browse live classes (1-to-1 or 2–6 student mini batches), pay, and join instantly. Built-in classroom with whiteboard and recordings.

Pick whichever mode suits you. See the full step-by-step guide →

How do I find the right tutor?+

Use our search filters by subject, level (SSC, HSC, O Level, A Level, Admission), city, price range, and tutor background (BUET grad, female tutor, etc.). Each tutor profile shows their qualifications, reviews from real students, and sample lessons.

If you're unsure, just submit a request describing what you need and we'll match you within 24 hours.

Are the tutors actually verified?+

Yes — every tutor on BengalTutors submits:

  • National ID (NID)
  • Academic certificate (HSC, SSC, university degree)
  • At least one reference
  • A short video introduction

"BUET Verified" and "DU Verified" badges mean we've separately confirmed their degree with the institution.

Booking & sessions
How much does it cost?+

Tutors set their own rates. Typical ranges:

  • Home tutors: Tk 400 – Tk 1,200 per hour depending on level and tutor experience
  • Online 1-to-1: Tk 500 – Tk 1,500 per hour
  • Mini batch (2–6 students): Tk 200 – Tk 600 per student per hour — up to 50% cheaper than 1-to-1

The price you see is the price you pay. No hidden fees.

Is there a free trial or first lesson free?+

Many tutors offer a free first lesson or discounted trial — look for the "1st lesson free" or "Tk X trial" badge on their profile. Online mini batch classes also typically allow you to attend the first session before committing.

We currently have verified home tutors in 18+ cities including Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Bogura, Jashore, Cox's Bazar, Pabna, Tangail, Faridpur, and Dinajpur.

Online classes are available everywhere in Bangladesh with an internet connection.

Safety & quality
Is it safe to have a tutor visit my home?+

Every home tutor is NID-verified, has a public profile with photo, and we keep a record of who is teaching where. We strongly recommend the first session happen with a guardian present and in a common room (not a bedroom or closed space).

If anything feels off, report it immediately via WhatsApp and we'll act within hours.

What if my tutor doesn't show up?+

Tutor no-shows are rare but they happen. If a tutor misses a paid session without notice, you get a 100% refund — automatically. Just report it via the app or WhatsApp within 24 hours.

Joining as a tutor
How do I become a tutor on BengalTutors?+

Simple — sign up as a tutor. It only takes a minute to create your account, then you complete your tutor profile with:

  • Your NID / Passport scan
  • Your highest academic certificate (HSC, BSc, MA, etc.)
  • A short bio and a profile photo
  • The subjects and levels you teach

Our team reviews every new tutor within 24 hours.

What are the requirements to teach?+

Minimum: HSC completed + currently studying at university (or graduated). For specialised subjects like university admission or IELTS, we may require additional proof of expertise (test scores, course completion).

We also evaluate teaching experience and communication ability — not just academic credentials.

Do I have to pay anything to join?+

No. Joining BengalTutors is 100% free. There is no registration fee, no monthly subscription, and no upfront cost. You only pay a small commission once you start earning — see below.

Commission & earnings
What is the commission?+

Home tutoring — first month only. You pay 25% of the first month's agreed fee, and the student pays 25% as well. The student pays you the remaining 50% directly at the end of that month. From month 2 you keep everything — the student pays you in full and BengalTutors takes nothing, ever.

On a Tk 8,000 tuition: you receive Tk 4,000 from the student and pay Tk 2,000 to us in month one, so you net Tk 2,000. From month two you receive the full Tk 8,000 every month.

Splitting the fee with the student is deliberate. Most tuition media in Bangladesh charge the tutor 50% to 60% of the first month, which pushes tutors to raise their rates or take the tuition off-platform.

Online one-to-one. The student pays the first month to BengalTutors in advance and we hold it. At month end we keep 50% and transfer the rest to you — you pay nothing up front. From month 2, if you both continue through the platform we keep 10% and you receive 90%.

Live batches. We keep 10% plus the gateway charge each month and transfer the balance to you.

Full details, with worked examples, are at bengaltutors.com/fees.

How much can I earn?+

Earnings depend on hours taught and rates. As a guide:

  • Part-time home tutor (2–3 students): Tk 8,000 – Tk 25,000/month
  • Full-time tutor with online batches: Tk 40,000 – Tk 100,000/month
  • Top tutors (BUET/DU graduates teaching admission prep): Tk 1.5L+ per month

You set your own rate.

When and how do I get paid for online classes?+

Payouts run monthly on the 5th of each month for the previous month's earnings. We pay to:

  • bKash
  • Nagad
  • Bank transfer (any Bangladeshi bank)

For home tutoring you collect payment directly from the student. We send you an invoice link for your 25% share of the first month, payable by bank transfer or card — after which nothing more is charged, in that month or any month after.

Teaching
Can I teach both home and online?+

Yes. Many of our top tutors do both. Set your availability and modes inside your Tutor Dashboard.

Do I need special software for online classes?+

No. Our built-in classroom works in any browser. You get an interactive whiteboard, HD video, screen-share, and session recordings — all included. Just a stable internet connection (4 Mbps+ recommended).

Can I set my own schedule and rates?+

Absolutely. You set your hours, your subjects, your price per hour, and your minimum class size. BengalTutors never assigns you students without your consent.

What if a student doesn't pay me (home tutor)?+

If a confirmed home-tutor student refuses to pay or stops responding, report it via the Tutor Dashboard. We'll mediate and, if the student is at fault, they'll be banned from the platform. We protect tutors — that's why we verify students too.

How do I pay for an online class?+

We accept all major Bangladeshi payment methods via SSLCommerz:

  • bKash
  • Nagad
  • Rocket
  • Upay
  • Visa, Mastercard, AMEX (local & international)
  • Direct bank transfer (DBBL Nexus, City Touch)

All transactions are processed securely through SSLCommerz — Bangladesh's most trusted payment gateway.

Is it safe to enter my payment details?+

Yes. BengalTutors never sees or stores your card or wallet details. All payment data is encrypted and processed by SSLCommerz, which is PCI-DSS compliant and regulated by Bangladesh Bank.

How does the refund policy work?+

Short version:

  • Cancel before the first online session — 100% refund
  • Tutor no-show — 100% refund
  • Mid-course cancellation — pro-rata refund for unused sessions

Full details are in our Refund Policy.

How long does a refund take?+

Refunds are processed within 5–7 working days back to your original payment method. bKash and Nagad refunds usually arrive within 2–3 days; card refunds may take longer depending on your bank.

Do I get an invoice / receipt?+

Yes, an email receipt is sent for every transaction. You can also download all your invoices from your dashboard under Account → Billing.

What if I'm charged twice?+

Duplicate charges are rare but if it happens, contact us with your transaction ID and we'll refund the duplicate within 3 working days. Email contact@bengaltutors.com or WhatsApp us.

Are there any extra or hidden fees?+

No. The price shown on the class page is the price you pay — VAT and gateway fees are already included. Tutors set their own rate and BengalTutors' commission comes from the tutor's side, not yours.
