Looking for a tutor? Post a tuition job and let them come to you
There are two ways to find a tutor. You can go through profiles and contact the ones you like. Or you can describe what you need once, and let tutors who fit come to you.
The second way is faster for most families, and it is free.
Why posting works better than searching
When you search, you are guessing which tutors are free on Sunday evenings, willing to travel to your area, and comfortable with your budget. None of that is visible from a profile, so you find out by asking, one tutor at a time.
When you post, you state all three up front. Only tutors who can actually do it apply — and they apply knowing your budget, so nobody's time is wasted on a fee conversation that was never going to work.
What to put in the post
The whole thing takes about two minutes. Say:
- The class or level. Class 6, SSC, HSC, admission preparation, O Level, A Level.
- The subjects. Be specific. "Higher Math and Physics" gets a better tutor than "Science".
- Home tuition or online. If online, your area stops mattering and the pool gets much larger.
- Your area, for home tuition. Area is the single strongest filter there is — a tutor who cannot get to you cannot teach your child, however good they are.
- Days and times. Two days a week, three, weekends only. Say what is actually possible.
- Your budget, as a monthly figure. This is the field people leave blank, and it is the one that decides whether the right tutors bother to apply. A realistic number brings realistic applicants. Our fees page has typical ranges if you are unsure.
- Anything that matters. A preference for a female tutor, a child who has fallen behind, an exam in four months. Say it — it changes who applies.
What happens next
- 1. Your post goes on the tuition jobs board, where tutors read it.
- 2. Tutors apply. You see who they are: institution, department, subjects, area, and their fee.
- 3. You choose. Not "we assign somebody" — you pick.
- 4. We check with the tutor that they are available on your days and at the agreed fee, before anybody comes to your house.
- 5. Classes start. The fee is invoiced through the platform with a reference, so there is no cash conversation at the door.
What it costs to post
Nothing. Posting a tuition is free, reading applications is free, and you are under no obligation to pick anybody. Our share comes out of the first month once a tuition actually starts, and it is set out in full on the fees page.
Two things that get posts filled
Be specific about the child, not just the subject. "Class 9, dropped from A to C in Maths after switching school" tells a tutor what the job is. "Class 9 Maths" does not.
Reply to applications. Tutors apply to several posts. The ones that go unanswered for a week get filled elsewhere, and the good tutors are the ones with other options.
