Home tutors in Mymensingh: the best ratio in the country, if you look early
Mymensingh has one of the best tutor-to-family ratios in Bangladesh, and most parents here never take advantage of it because they look in the wrong month.
The district holds an agricultural university, a medical college and a set of long-established colleges, in a city small enough that most of it is within a twenty-minute ride. On paper that is an excellent position for a parent. In practice, families start looking in June, by which point the capable students have already taken the tuitions they intend to take for the year.
The city, and the district around it
Mymensingh Sadar is the centre. The district then runs out through Muktagacha, Trishal, Bhaluka, Fulbaria, Gafargaon, Gouripur, Haluaghat, Iswarganj, Nandail, Phulpur, Dhobaura and Tarakanda.
Sadar behaves like a small university town: supply is good, distances are short, and a tutor will cheerfully take a student anywhere in the city. Bhaluka and Trishal have their own supply because of the institutions there. The northern upazilas — Haluaghat, Dhobaura, Phulpur — are a different market, where the realistic plan is a local tutor for daily subjects and an online tutor for the one paper that has no local specialist.
Look early, and ask about the calendar
The single most useful thing a Mymensingh parent can do is start a term earlier than feels necessary, and ask one question:
When are your examinations, and what happens to our classes during them?
A student tutor with a straight answer to that will keep the arrangement running all year. One who waves it away will disappear for six weeks at exactly the wrong time, and your child will lose the thread of the subject rather than just the classes.
What a tuition costs here
Mymensingh is among the more affordable districts — meaningfully below Dhaka, roughly level with the northern divisional cities. A university student teaching three days a week here is not charging what the same student would charge in Dhanmondi, because their own costs are lower.
That makes it possible to do something families in Dhaka often cannot: take two tutors, one for the weak subject and one for everything else, for less than a single Dhaka tuition. If your child is failing one paper and coasting in the rest, that split is usually a better use of the money than more hours of the same generalist.

Agricultural, medical, engineering — use the specialism
A tutor from an agricultural university is, in practice, a strong Biology and Chemistry tutor. A medical student is the person to hire for the Biology paper and for medical admission preparation. Ask what they studied and match it to the subject, rather than hiring "a university student" generically and hoping.
