Tuition Jobs for BUET Students: What the Work Pays and How to Start

By BengalTutors · 08 Aug 2026

Almost every BUET student is asked the same question within weeks of admission: will you teach my son? The demand is real, it is constant, and it pays better than nearly anything else a student can do around a class timetable.

This is a plain account of what the work involves — hours, money, and the parts nobody warns you about.

Why families ask for you specifically

You sat the same exam, on the same syllabus, recently. That is the whole of it.

A parent watching their child struggle with Higher Mathematics is not looking for a professor. They are looking for someone who cleared the thing their child is about to attempt, and who remembers which chapters carry marks and which questions are traps. Your admission result is a credential in a way no certificate is.

That advantage fades. A tutor eight years past HSC is working from memory; you are working from experience. Use it while it is fresh.

What the work actually pays

A typical HSC Physics or Higher Mathematics tuition in Dhaka runs three days a week, ninety minutes a session, for somewhere between Tk 6,000 and Tk 12,000 a month depending on area, subject and how much the family needs.

That is roughly eighteen hours a month. Two tuitions is a reasonable load alongside coursework; three is possible in a light term and punishing in a heavy one.

Be honest with yourself about the commute. A tuition in a distant area at Tk 10,000 can be worse than one nearby at Tk 7,000 once travel is counted, and travel is time you cannot bill.

What BengalTutors charges

We are straightforward about this because tutors deserve to know before they start.

For home tuition, both sides pay a share in the first month only. On a Tk 8,000 tuition, the parent pays us Tk 2,000, you pay us Tk 2,000, and the parent pays you Tk 4,000 directly. So in month one you keep Tk 2,000.

From month two we charge nothing at all. The parent pays you the full Tk 8,000, every month, for as long as the tuition lasts. No money passes through us again.

That is the whole model. A placement fee once, then we step out of the way. The full numbers are published here, including a worked example.

Getting your first one

Create a profile and complete it properly. This matters more than anything else you will do.

Then watch the tuition jobs board. Families post what they need, you apply with a short note about why you fit, and we check it against what they asked for before making the introduction.

The part nobody warns you about

Knowing Physics and teaching Physics are different skills, and the gap is wider than you expect.

Your first month will be humbling. You will explain something the way it makes sense to you, watch the student nod, and discover next week that nothing landed. The tutors who do well are the ones who stop lecturing and start asking the student to explain it back.

Second thing: be reliable. A tutor who arrives on time every week is rarer than a brilliant one, and families talk to each other. Nearly all the good tuitions in Dhaka move by word of mouth, and reliability is what gets you recommended.

Sign up as a tutor and complete your profile — that is the whole of getting started.
