Home Tutors in Mirpur: Fees, Areas Covered and How to Book
Mirpur has one of the largest tutor pools in Dhaka and one of the widest ranges of rates. Knowing why the range is so wide is most of what you need.
Areas and how they connect
Mirpur is dense, which is good news: a tutor from Kazipara can reasonably reach Shewrapara or Mirpur 10, and travel time between neighbouring blocks is short.
- Mirpur 1, 2, 6, 10 — the largest tutor supply in the area
- Kazipara, Shewrapara, Kafrul — well connected along the main road, easy for tutors to reach
- Pallabi, Mirpur 11, 12 — good supply, though fewer English medium specialists
- Mirpur DOHS — smaller pool, higher rates, more English medium demand
Because the areas interlock, we match tutors on the areas they actually serve rather than where they live — so a Kazipara tutor still appears for a Shewrapara student.
Where Mirpur's tutors study
Proximity to several large campuses gives Mirpur a deep pool:
- University of Dhaka and Jahangirnagar — the bulk of SSC and HSC tutors
- BUET and engineering universities — Physics and Higher Maths
- Dhaka Medical, Sir Salimullah and other medical colleges — Biology and Chemistry
- National University colleges — commonly the most affordable option for primary and lower secondary
That last group is why Mirpur's range is so wide. A National University student teaching Class 5 and a BUET student teaching HSC Physics are both "home tutors in Mirpur" and their rates differ by a factor of three.
Typical monthly rates in Mirpur
Three days a week, one subject:
- Class 1 to 5 — Tk 2,500 to 4,500
- Class 6 to 8 — Tk 3,500 to 6,000
- Class 9 to 10 — Tk 5,000 to 9,000
- Class 11 to 12 — Tk 6,000 to 12,000
- Admission preparation — Tk 8,000 upwards
Slightly below Uttara and Gulshan for the same class level, largely because tutors travel shorter distances. Our full fee guide explains what pushes a rate to the top of its range.
Matching the tutor to the problem
The most common mistake we see in Mirpur is hiring on price alone for a subject that needs a specialist. For Class 9 and 10 Maths and Science, and for anything at HSC level, the tutor's own background decides the outcome far more than their years of experience. A first-year engineering student who sat the same admission test two years ago will usually outperform a general tutor with five years behind them.
For Bangla, Religion and primary-level subjects, the reverse is true — patience and reliability matter more than pedigree, and you should not overpay for a name.
Booking
For home tuition we charge 25 percent to the parent and 25 percent to the tutor, first month only. From month two you pay the tutor directly and we take nothing — no recurring commission, no money passing through us. See how it works.
