English Tutors in Bangladesh: From SSC Grammar to IELTS

Ask for an English tutor in Bangladesh and you may get either of two very different people. One is expert at second paper grammar, transformation and completing sentences — the mechanical part where marks are won and lost. The other is a fluent, confident speaker who can get your child talking but has never drilled a transformation exercise.

Both are valuable. They are not interchangeable. Decide which you need before you start looking, and say so plainly.

For school marks

First paper is comprehension, seen and unseen passages, and writing. Second paper is grammar, and this is where most students bleed marks: transformation of sentences, right forms of verbs, prepositions, narration. It is learnable and highly trainable. A tutor who drills it with weekly written work will move a grade faster than almost any other intervention.

Ask a candidate: which paper are you strongest on? An honest answer is a good sign.

For actual English

If the goal is speaking and confidence — for university, for a job interview, for life — you need a different kind of session. Less worksheet, more conversation, corrected gently and often. Progress here is slower to see and worth far more in the long run.

The best arrangement is often one tutor for the exam and, later, a different one for fluency. Trying to buy both from one person in two hours a week usually gets you neither.

IELTS is its own thing

IELTS is a test of technique as much as language. Band scores hinge on knowing what the examiner rewards in each of the four sections. If IELTS is the goal, look for a tutor who has taken the test themselves and can say what they scored — and choose someone who will do full timed practice, not just vocabulary lists.

Who teaches English well

English department students from DU, CU, JU and SUST are the natural pool, and are usually strong on both papers. But English is the one subject where the department matters less than the person: some of the best English tutors studied something else entirely and simply read widely. Judge this one on a trial class more than on a certificate.
