CU, JU and SUST Tutors: Three Campuses Worth Knowing
When parents think about tutors, three or four famous names come to mind and the search stops there. That is a mistake, because it leaves out three of the country's biggest and most varied campuses.
University of Chittagong (CU)
CU is the natural first stop for Chattogram families. It is large and broad, which means you can find tutors for subjects the specialist campuses simply do not teach — Bangla, English, Economics, Accounting, History, Islamic Studies — as well as the sciences. For a family in Chattogram wanting one tutor for two or three subjects, CU is usually where that tutor is.
Jahangirnagar University (JU)
JU sits at Savar, within reach of Dhaka, and many of its students tutor in Uttara, Mirpur, Gabtoli, Savar and the north of the city. Like DU it covers a wide range of departments, so it is a strong option for humanities and commerce subjects as well as science.
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST)
SUST, in Sylhet, is science and technology focused, and its students are well suited to Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and computer subjects. For families in Sylhet it is the obvious local pool; for everyone else, SUST tutors are a good reason to consider online classes.
Choosing between them
For most families the university name matters far less than three practical things:
- Does the tutor teach the exact subject and paper you need? A Physics tutor is not a Higher Mathematics tutor.
- Can they reach you, on the days you need, for the whole year? A tutor who is perfect but 90 minutes away will not last.
- Do they explain in a way your child follows? One trial class answers this better than any credential.
Prestige is a shortcut, not an answer. Use it to build a shortlist, then judge on the trial.
